Situated adjacent to a mosque in Almaty, TAL has long been esteemed as a venue for familial gatherings, commemorative meals, and grand communal feasts. The refurbishment initiative was centered on reimagining the establishment while upholding its ties to history—maintaining its recognizable ambiance while introducing a serene, modern, and architecturally harmonious character. From the project's inception, the focus was on steering clear of literal stylization or overt decorative nods to national motifs. Instead, the design ethos is crafted through the play of materials, illumination, proportions, and spatial customs. The interior scheme draws on the ethos of collective dining and everyday family customs, transposing them into a contemporary architectural lexicon.
