Exploring MINOR Lab's Innovative Community Art Initiative
In an evolving urban landscape in China where urban development transitions from incremental growth to stock renewal, a fresh urban perspective has surfaced. This perspective focuses on revitalizing spatial significance within current community structures by repurposing building stock into public assets. Situated within a residential community finalized in 2021, this project explores the conversion of three unique spaces. These include the transformation of an ancillary building into a vibrant community art center, the refurbishment of a neighboring area into a welcoming community café, and the adaptation of a residential unit into a stimulating artist studio. Through these interventions, a cohesive spatial network emerges, intertwining elements of public exhibition, social engagement, and individual creative pursuits.
